Configuring VoIP Gateways for Asterisk IP PBX Featured

Hosted IP PBX solutions like Asterisk is very popular for office PBX phone systems now, but hosted IP PBX only server software, not telephone interface, that is why we need VoIP Gateways for hosted IP PBX solutions;

How VoIP Gateways working for Asterisk?

FXS ports of VoIP Gateways will register  to Asterisk as local or remote extensions to provide phone lines;

FXO PSTN ports of VoIP Gateways will be SIP trunks for Asterisk IP PBX for incoming and outgoing calls;

If you had E1/T1 lines, not CO lines from telecom carriers, you may use E1/T1 PRI trunk gateway as SIP trunks of Asterisk IP PBX for incoming and outgoing calls;

Step by Step to configure VoIP Gateways for Asterisk:

Asterisk's setting:

1. Install Elastix or Trixbox as Asterisk IP PBX

2. Create SIP extensions for FXS ports VoIP Gateways on Asterisk

3. Create SIP trunks for FXO or E1/T1 trunk gateways for incoming and outbound calls;

4. Configure outbound route

5. Configure inbound route

FXS ports VoIP Gateway's setting:

1. Configure SIP account for all FXS ports

2. Configure SIP server for VoIP Gateways

3. Changed the DTMF method for VoIP Gateways

4. Edit digits map

FXO ports VoIP Gateway's setting:

1. Configure Routing table for outbound calls from Asterisk

2. Configure FXO ports as DID (Hotline mode)  for incoming calls from PSTN to Asterisk:
